Dr. David Henkin '16 on Outpatient Palliative Care at Henry Ford in MI

Dr. David Henkin, a 2016 graduate of UMHS, will deliver the keynote speech at the upcoming UMHS White Coat Ceremony in May in St. Kitts. Dr. Henkins is currently working as the Medical Director for Outpatient Palliative Care at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI. He completed his internal medicine residency in 2020 and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Henkin's typical work day involves seeing about eight patients, conducting chart reviews, and engaging in administrative tasks. He emphasizes the importance of clear and meaningful communication in his field. UMHS spoke to Dr. Henkin on a winter day when he had a rare spare half hour to talk about his career.
